Yoga, Mindfulness & Wellbeing in Schools

Schools are an inclusive space for children and incorporating a regular Yoga & Mindfulness practice into the pupils' lifestyle is an incredibly effective method for children to learn skills supporting their self-belief, emotion regulation and resilience whilst navigating the challenges of growing up.The wellbeing programmes and classes are designed to bring mindfulness and social-emotional learning into the everyday life of children. It supports children to build their own 'resilience toolkit' to be equipped in life to face challenges in a positive and self-supported way.Depending on the need of the children I work on the basis of non-competitive and inclusive movement, creative arts & crafts, mindfulness techniques breathing activities and relaxation tools. The most important part for me is for children to learn whilst having fun. Therefore, the activities will always include games and interactive ways to get the children involved and keep them engaged.I offer a variety of different classes and programmes for children as well as staff support and development. Here are some of the offerings:

  • Yoga, Mindfulness & Wellbeing classes for Nursery, Primary & Secondary

  • Yoga, Mindfulness & Wellbeing Workshops for parents/carers/teachers

  • After-school clubs

Yoga & Mindfulness for Children and Young people

My Yoga & Mindfulness classes for children are bespoke to the needs of each group and taught in a safe & inclusive environment. Children are supported in building self-confidence through non-competitive movement, mindfulness activities, breathing techniques and relaxation practices. Classes can include games, yoga poses, team work, time to relax and much more. With specific training in both Yoga and Mindfulness I work with children to support the learning of long lasting techniques to increase resilience and decrease stress and anxiety. In the classes the children will learn how to calm and relax their minds, to focus and pay attention, to understand and express their thoughts and feelings. The mindfulness part of the class is all about cultivating kindness for themselves and others through creativity, art, craft, stories, meditation, visualisation and discussion.Together we learn about what emotions are, how to regulate them and we build toolboxes to support children whilst growing up.The younger age groups are guided through story based adventures, using their imagination to explore yoga and mindfulness. All classes will end with a guided relaxation. Through the classes children are encouraged to play, be creative and most importantly have fun.I am offering specific mindfulness programmes to support children to cope with their emotions and feelings. All classes are adapted to the different age groups and are suitable for any age from 2 years to 18 years. I also work with families, supporting both the children and adults.

Yoga & Mindfulness for Adults

Yoga

What is Yoga? Simply put, yoga is a mind-body practice, supporting our physical and mental wellbeing.

Specialising in several different yoga styles including Vinyasa, Yin, LYT & yoga for women, I am passionate about supporting individuals to get to know themselves better through movement, mindfulness practices, breathing techniques and relaxation methods. My classes differ depending on the style, however a big focus will be on anatomy and alignment alongside the other parts of a class.I offer a variety of different styles of classes which are always taught in a fun, light-hearted and inclusive way. Depending on the needs of the individual/group the classes can focus on the following (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Flexibility

  • Strength

  • Alignment of the body

  • Calming of the mind

  • Breath work

  • Relaxation & Meditation

For me, the most important element in any of my teaching is for participants to feel supported, safe and comfortable. The classes are designed for you to connect to your body in a relaxed atmosphere. Everyone is welcome!

Mindfulness

In short, Mindfulness means being present in the moment that is. In a mindfulness practice we learn how to intentionally be more aware in the moment and how to be fully engaged with what is happening.Mindfulness is about acceptance and letting go of judgment. In my practices kindness and self-compassion play a huge part as I believe that they are often the foundational pillars to acceptance and non-judgment.Mindfulness is part of every yoga class I teach but can also be held as a separate class. Mindfulness is something we can all practice, both formally in class or informally in our every day life.
